North Rampart Main Street’s Annual RampART is a community event celebrating the cultural past, present and future of our historic neighborhoods. The event has a dual focus - to showcase home-grown artists and musicians to encourage revitalization of the North Rampart Street corridor by focusing positive attention on the Tremé and Vieux Carré neighborhoods.

The RampART event provides a special focus on art awareness and education by providing opportunities for youngsters to create artwork decorated with cultural symbols of the neighborhood. North Rampart Main Street, Inc. (NRMSI) worked with McDonough 15 School for the Creative Arts to participate in the 2010 RampART Children's Art Contest and Gallery.

Each year the children are invited to submit their artwork in the month of November. The artwork is judged and displayed at a festival or other special event. In 2010 the artwork was displayed at the Congo Square Festival. After the initial display the children are given their awards at the annual Awards Ceremony.

The targeted audience is the youth and others in the surrounding communities, who have limited access to the arts, especially in their own neighborhood. It is our goal to increase arts awareness, encourage participation in the arts, thereby enhancing the economic development of the neighborhood in our diverse economic and cultural community.
